Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts by Jennie Allen

About the book:

It all starts in your head and continues into endless possibilities. You may be caught up in negative thought patterns (e.g. I’m not good enough, I will never succeed, others have a better life and are happier than me, God doesn’t like me…) that deepen and shape your lifestyle. However, we can free ourselves from them and change our emotions and view of our life circumstances by taking control.
Jennie Allen trusts in the power of God and the Christian faith. When we submit our thoughts to Christ, God’s promises and goodness flood our lives in extraordinary ways. Freedom comes when we don’t want to be a victim of our thoughts and realize that we have already been equipped with God’s power to fight and win the war for our mind.

Thank you for this review of the three best-selling books about positive thinking. The one that most caught my attention is “Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts” by Jennie Allen. It is great that she focuses on getting rid of negative thoughts: this is the first step to create a positive attitude and to understand that we can control our attitude and actions. Very interesting article and reviews!

At this time, it is so easy to be overcome with negative thinking.  The Pandemic, riots and protests, in our state, uncontrollable fires, difficult economic problems world wide all make being negative natural and easy.  Your review of these 3 books and the suggestion that we should try to always be positive in our thinking is important for this time. I know the Norman Vincent Peale book well.  The other two are new to me, but introduced by your review.  Whether its called prayer, meditation, reflection or something else, positive thinking is needed to face the world each day and thrive.

Thanks for that kind response. When the pandemic started, I talked to some people and then also read a few posts on the subject that for better immunity it is necessary to maintain a positive and grateful attitude so our body functions at higher vibrations and is more resilient. And so it is with everything, with a positive mindset we find it easier to face everything that happens to us in life.

I wish you all the best

I have read The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale it is a classic book in the field of positive thinking. It is a book that has been around a while but is still as relevant today as it was when it was written. some reviewers would say it is timeless. Unlike some books in this genre, it isn’t hard to read. I recommend this as a great starting point.

It’s good to see the 2 out of 3 of these books authors have written other books, as well. That helps to give them more credibility.

Let’s say that I haven’t read any books of this type but I find myself doubting I can be successful. If you had to choose one of these three books as a first one to read, which one would you suggest I read first?

    • admin Reply

The book I would definitely suggest to read first is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. The book is timeless, excellently written, and leaves a very strong mark. Thanks for the kind comment!

Wow, this topic is very nice! I know that we all have to watch what we say to ourselves at some point because we can be our worse enemy. giving the books that we can read, how many pages the book has, and a little about the books. One thing that could be added is how many hours that it would take to read the books.

    Thank you,

    LA

Thanks for the kind comment. Answering the question of how long a book is read is difficult because it really depends on the individual. Someone can read one book in a few hours, and someone else reads the same book for several days. The proposed books have such a theme that they are generally read quickly.

      Greetings,

      Nina
